DS4OERS (PAC) General forum for digital skills for OER sharing

@Jemimah

You have made a good start. Many teachers can feel overwhelmed when confronted with a range of new technologies - that’s quite normal.

Building digital skills using the internet is like learning to swim or learning to ride a bicycle. You can’t acquire these skills by reading a book - you need to get your feet wet and persist in finding your balance through practice. Keep trying - it will get easier and if you get stuck - don’t be shy to ask questions in the forums. We are here to help you.

What contributes to the complexities of OER is the intricacies of copyright - with practice it will all fall into place.

Keep up the hard work!

What skills will I achieve, which are applicable to students in outer island school whom they have limited access to internet?

Hi @kuraietatebwearuru98

That is a very relevant question - thanks for asking. The focus of DS4OERS is to support teachers in building digital skills in remixing, adapting and sharing OER for print-based handouts and resources for use in the classroom. So these skills will be of value for students in outer islands who do not have internet connectivity.

Using free and open source software - it would be possible to have local computers on old hardware or low cost devices that can display rich multi-media without internet connection needed for learners.
