Absolutely, is one of the most effective pedagogies that help students learn effectively and learning is student - centered. It really boost their morale for learning and self-esteem.
I totally agree with your ideas…
i agree with that - teaching nowadays is basically student - centered in which this promote collaboration between peers. This could teach them essential skills as in communication and social skills, improves self confidence and even reduce bullying in schools.
The student already have heard and read about the Topic or Idea, they are given the opportunity to do research and discussion to have more insight knowledge about the Topic. It enables individuals to present facts and no assumptions during their discussions, because, individuals receives feedback from group peer.
once each individual is responsible in bringing his/her idea through group peer discussions and easily collaborate to changes during discussions, hence, understanding more the Purpose of the Topic.
Students need enough time to collaborate their own understandings.
Then discuss among themselves (grouping) which are the best to be presented to the whole class
By sharing their ideas in groups, may give more lessons to those who are struggling.
This give more motivations to students to change their style of learning
Group working is a collaboration activity where students can gather and share different ideas and many views about any given topic. This is how weak students might be helped more from those smart ones. Not only that, but when students working together, they were enjoy the lesson as they have the right and chance to explain their own ideas and has contribute to achieving the learning outcomes very effectively because they are self-learned without spoon fed from a teacher.
Feedback and collaboration is necessary to enhance learning. It helps you to find new solutions to improve your teaching as well as monitor students assessments.
I am grateful for feedback as I have received feed backs which have enhanced my learning in Learning Challenge Two by the following collaborators: @maliasio @4672 @12341 @S11097739 @williemaetee
The feed backs were very positive and useful from all five of them. I learnt something new from @williemaetee about Viber.
I believe to make feed back in this course more useful, we need to structure our questions or topics correctly to get the right feed back that we need.
Thank you.
Globalization is a very broad topic. Students can read and report anything anyhow but I believe the tasks set the parameters or guide to the extent of their research and feed back and therefore their learning. Moreover, the tasks do not limit them from expressing themselves so I believe there was room for working together freely and learning from one another.
sheiladrew, I couldn’t access the ‘Reflection’ on the feedback on the two tutors in Feedback, Collaboration and Assessment. Hence, I’m not moving forward in the course. What can I do?
The task in the activity gives opportunity for students to collaborate greatly. All the five tasks in the ‘Globalisation Activity’ are fully represented.
The small and individual groups allow for reflecting and sharing of knowledge, ideas and learning.
The task allow for immediate response because group is involved and submission is also involved.
Their submission and working together allow feedback concerning what they have done in the groups and individually.
Collaboration facilitates feedback because they needed to compare and evaluate what they have done, and how to have a polished product based on the set standards and criteria.
Tasks 1 & 3 are group work. They give opportunities for student collaboration as they engage in joint activities. They are able to share ideas and gain new aspects from their peers. Collaboration also promotes critical thinking among students as they get chance to reflect on different perspectives. It is also facilitates feedback by providing opportunities for learners to comment on their peers’ work/posts.
Assigning group work is fine, as it builds learners’ collaborative and networking skills. However, teachers should ensure that all learners in the particular group have the same facilities or resources available. For E.g. students should be required to do the group project in the library after school hours or they should all have access to the laptop/computer so they create an online document where all students can work on it collaboratively.
It is also very important that they present in class, thereby the rest of the class members and the teacher gives critical feedback immediately.
How about staff members and peer review. At the beginning of each semester, all online course content must be verified; this includes the availability of content, the inclusion of interactive content such as videos, discussion forums, and assessment activities such as formative and summative assessments. However, any staff member can claim that they have completed the task.
What if the staff members are required to swap courses under coordination, to peer review each other’s work to assess if the task was thoroughly done, and they are then requested to write a summary about their findings?
Will this count as feedback and collaboration?
Hi,everyone
-
Opportunities for student collaboration
Students had to share their own understanding and views on globalisation, affording them the opportunity to exchange knowledge about the topic. -
Feedback
Peers get the opportunity to assess each other’s viewpoints and comment on it. They can debate, agree or disagree allowing learners to reflect and assess their own views as well as those of their peers.
The students will have an opportunity with working with others they will be able to share ideas as a group. And as feedback is been given it will build an understanding to all members of the group and it will help in building confidences of decision to the student as a group
