Hi everyone. I am Geeta Krishna from Nadi. I am the Assistant Principal of Swami Vivekananda College. I teach Accounting and Economics. I have been teaching from 1994 to date. I have taught at Nadi Muslim College, Cuvu College, Lomawai Secondary and currently am at SVC. The biggest challenge in teaching today for me is the effect of COVID 19 pandemic and natural disasters affecting students and the problems we as teachers/administrators face currently in terms of teaching and learning. I like upgrading myself with technology and new software’s, socializing, service work with The Strivers Club, reading books and living life as it comes in this abnormal environment we are faced with.

hi @ashley… i agree with this …lack of time for planning… due to so much changes happening day in an out with the opening of school. I am also finding it difficult to plan for proper teaching and learning to take place. Just looking forward to face to face program to resume.
Bula
My name is Priya Singh. Currently, I am a part-time teaching assistant at USP in Fiji for the last 3 years in the Geography field.
The biggest challenge is definitely the poor internet connectivity and another major one from my experience is students are not engaging and coping with online assessments. Poor participation (students will be present in zoom session however, they do not participate at all, feels like you are teaching an empty class). The difficulty is what should we do or rather how to make them active participants in the class and have them complete assessments within due time.
In my leisure time, I watch movies.
Bula vinaka everyone. I am Mrs Suliana Daurua and this is my 16th year of teaching in Secondary schools. My teaching subjects are Maths and Computing. I, am one of the teacher, who loves teaching online, since we have to adapt to this current situation that we have in terms of COVID 19, & natural disasters that we currently face. So, therefore, I always agree that using of virtual platforms really help and support students learning nowdays.
Looking forward to this course
Thank you, Dr Amanda. Indeed, bio-ethics is an aspect we will be more than happy to collaborate with. Looking forward to discussions outside this platform. Thank you for connecting.
Hi Subashni. Yes, indeed - really glad for this platform for further collaboration. Thank you for connecting.
Hi Serapulumeau22. I agree that as time is evolving, there is a necessity for an individual to be computer literate. Good Luck on your posting!!!
Hi everyone.
My name is Olimiva and this is my 11th year in teaching. I am currently teaching History and English at Lomary Secondary School. Currently i think my major challenge now is trying to reach out to my students due to our current circumstance, that is, the pandemic and now the current natural disaster. Most students are not responding to classes conducted online and even when worksheets ware given.
During my leisure time i actually spend it by reading fiction books. Looking forward for this course and i know that i will learn a lot from it.
Thank you
Hi
Wishing you all the best for your study and final year
Hi @Petery
Like you, i am also use to do face to face training, but due to what we are currently facing now, it has given us a wake up call to use other forms of media to teach. So i believe that this course will be beneficial to all of us…Cheers!

Good morning everyone. I am Shobna a ECE Teacher of Tavua, Fiji Island. Hello! Bula!
My name is Sangelene Kumar. I am from Tavua, Fiji Islands.I teach Year 1 at Toko Sanatan Primary School. It’s a big school with 540 students and 22 teachers. I have been teaching for the past 17 years.
The biggest challenge for me during this COVID-19 pandemic was to get all the students on board at the same time for classes. Some families had the provision for the new mode of teaching used by most of the countries; online but some students were facing difficulty surviving in life so education for them did not mattered much. It was hard to communicate with parents as we did not have their working contact numbers. Another challenge was lack of digital knowledge by some educators to take Zoom and Google class. I love reading and socializing in my free time.
Thanks
