Basically it is both-vocation and profession. Our task is to educate and enable the world to become a better place to live, requires understanding of the subject, skills plus experiences to become a profession.
Teaching is both a profession and vocation.
Profession in a sense that the term aligns with occupancy. For example: What is your profession? Ans: Teaching
Vocation is seen as a passion the teacher has towards their profession. The ability to mentor a learner with the required terms of education to be successful in life.
I joined the teaching profession because I am passionate with mentoring a learner to achieve their goals. It feels great to see your learners become successful in life because it signifies the harvest of becoming a teacher.
I would argue for teaching is both a vocation and a profession.
Once you are in the teaching field, you have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in education to impart concepts to learners. This is a Profession.
On the other hand, teaching is a Vocation since an Educator is qualified and well trained to handle teaching and learning. The person will be suitable for the task at hand because he loves teaching and he is suitable to the job descriptions that comes with it.
I totally agree that teaching is a special vocation from God graced me with his abundance blessings. Here in Fiji I am teaching in a school for special education where i focus my career to these students that they are unique: to hold their hands (pathway), open their mind
( confidence), and touches their heart (love) as my vocation.
Through that profession i am confident with the abilities, skills to be patient and dedicate in providing the holistic development of students in all areas such as hearing/physical/ visual impairment etc. Which based on their ability and not their disability. Since they are precious and capable of doing unacceptable. Which i am so grateful to be part of this teaching body
( Education)
Teaching is more than a vocation, It is a means where you have taken a lifetime of what you have done in your career and the skills developed using practical and theoretical abilities. Every career is considered a vocation; from being a doctor to a general laborer. If you look up vocation in the search engines, you can get a better feel of what a vocation is. In order to teach courses relating to the vocation you were in, you then can further your education, getting a bachelors degree in vocational education so you are able to teach other students what you know. To be a good teacher, you have to take core courses in teaching. Some of these courses are: learning how and the correct way to teach, work ethics, special needs students, lesson planning, grading tests, developing tests, etc. The whole key to teaching is to develop a good relationship with your students. Teaching is not a one way job but a consistent feedback method between teacher an student. Both teacher and student learn together. The reward is when the class ends, your students will raise their hand and say āI really learned a lot and you were a great teacher. That makes you feel very good inside
Yes, teaching is a profession. to teach is to be knowledgeable, upgraded and keep up with the new changes, so that teaching is properly and timely delivered so that the learners achieved the pre-determined learning outcome. Vacation is partly related to pleasure, thus in my opinion teaching as vacation is not as strictly as required like that of teaching as profession.
I think its both of vocations and profession because we need new skills and knowledges to move on in our teaching skills and knowledge now are days
I believe that teaching as a vocation and as a profession are complementary concepts. Teaching as a vocation āgroundsā you as a teacher or is the āplatformā on which you stand on. However, you will need to acquire the academic and professional knowledge and skills to build your capacity, effectiveness and confidence as a teacher.
I guess in my initial school days, I encountered outstanding teachers who were brilliant models of the profession and who also displayed wonderful relationships with their students. This caught my attention.
Teaching as vocation or profession, in the context of the Christian view. Vocation is defined as āthe use of oneās gifts in the profession, family life, church and civicā. Paul II said ābecause work is something that corresponds to manās dignity and through it he achieves fulfilment as a human beingā When you teach and achieved your goal, surely you have achieved your fulfilment as a human being! Frank Parson said āthe term vocation has evolved, with emphasis shifting to an individualās development of talent and abilities in the choices and enjoyment of a careerā This is a profession by definition. With all said Teaching is both a vocation and profession, but to a more holistic term, teaching is a vocation!
I used to relate vocation as pleasure. What I learnt from this course, upgraded my understanding of vocation. Vocation is more of a holistic duty, āsomething that corresponds to manās dignity and through it he achieves fulfilment as a human beingā. āThe term vocation has evolved, with emphasis shifting to an individualās development of talent and abilities in the choices and enjoyment of a careerā and as a TEACHER what he learnt, and continue to learn and share with others develops him/her to a better teaching careerā¦
I first graduated with a Business Studies and was asked to work as a school accountant. With my business background, I thought I can share my knowledge to students, in the classroom! I was totally wrong. Profession in one field of area must be combined with vocation, say (calling, dedication, commitment and some knowledge of teaching) to a be a good teacher. With my desire to become a good teacher, I decided to go for my education. There are more rewards for being a teacher - to help a student reaches his/her potential is one, when everyone in your class celebrate their examination victory, as a teacher you not only share the joy but also shed tears of joy. when you see one of your students holding an office position and mention his/her teacherās name, you feel rewarded! All these, and many other blessings in and out of the classroom, is the reason why I join the profession in teaching.
I feel that teaching is a vocation as it comes with passion, pleasure, and perfection.
I do believe that teaching is both a vocation and a profession because teaching not only requires professionalism and knowledge but also passion and dedication. Teachers must know both how to deliver information but also how to reach out the potential of every student.
With a shifting definition of vacation to more career oriented, I would say teaching is both vocation and profession.
And whatāre more, teachers learn and keep learning from not only students but with other fellow teachers. with a new idea of āopen educationā teaching is by far the most rewarding choice of career compared to none. I wonder if there is other profession of duties as variety as teaching!
Teaching is Vocational. We Teachers have a love and passion for our work. We have our desire to share our love of learning. We have to give a piece of ourself to it everytime we step into the classroom but in return we get so much back.
In my opinion teaching is a vocation; since you are trained to be a qualified applicant, however, it becomes a profession since you as an educator are engaged in an occupation or calling.
Teaching is the art and science of transferring solutions by vocational, technical or theoretical method. It could be for entrepreneurial or for other ends with the instrument of thesis, hypothesis, antithesis and synthesis.
I believe teaching is a vocation mission and profession that teachers have a calling to their particular profession. I would go as far as to say that many teachers have a love and a passion for their work and innate desire to share their love of learning and of a subject. A teacher spends most of his or her time teaching inside and outside the four walls of the classroom.
I joined the profession because I have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students. I wish to interact with learners everyday, helping them discover new and important facts and ideas to impact the education system and recognize the need to improve the quality of education in my country also to contribute to my community in a meaningful way.
