Upon selecting Sustainable Development Goal 7 - Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all - I believe the idea of using renewable energy is the best root to take as many have mentioned before. This idea may not be soo original but it is something more people should work together on achieving on a larger scale. Not only does this decrease the amount of green house gas emissions we produce, it also doesn’t hinder the growth of a nation - whether to be entirely dependent on fossil fuels which are inevitably bound to deplete in the next 20 to 50 years. The long term-benefits of solar and renewable energy heavily outweigh others ensuring sustainable development for nations and different populations.
Some may argue that the cost of solar panels are pricey, however, todays prices are decreasing and it is becoming more affordable each day. As mentioned above, it is a good long-term investment, both developed and developing nations cut both the cost of energy and pollution. It can sustain large populations connected to the solar power plants. Two birds with one stone in order to reach the goal of affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for everyone.
There is still research which needs to be done on how to effectively use and store solar energy o that many nations can transition into the use of renewable energy. OER’s can be instrumental in research, development and innovation of new technology which harnesses the power or renewable resources unlike anything we may ever know or see thanks to the openness and availability of research and data. Learners could learn from a course about sustainable energy and technological advancements which can benefit their respective countries and nations in terms of contribution of ideas and skills in sustainable energy.
Inequality is all around the world and can be seen in education through the context of wealth and riches owned by one. Education is a way people can group themselves and illustrates the rank of statuses of those of higher status and lower status. Those with lower income are most likely to receive lower-quality education or no education at all, compared to those with higher income having access to quality education. As education is a public good and a right of every individual (evident in the ‘Human rights of declaration’) it should not be in any way restricted, whether you have money or not, or of higher rank or lower status. We should not let inequality take away our rights to gain quality education, after all, education is the idea of reusing knowledge over and over again – basically passing on knowledge for one’s benefit. Take for instance this scenario; imagine a world populated with lower statuses people who are not able to afford formal education. And only a few can access education out of the massive population. How do you think that will affect the next generation? Most likely halt the sharing of ideas and thoughts constraining education rights. Inequality is highly disregarded when we talk about education; thanks to OER we are now able to reduce the inequality that is incorporated into our educational systems. With free access to intellectual ideas and without permission we have a sense of freedom to acquire knowledge in our favor aligned with showing respect to the author.
Respectfully, with much consideration to all other real-world problems and sustainable development goals, one of the pressing matters we are faced with today is good health and well-being. Good Health and well-being is the 3rd sustainable development goal set by the United Nations aimed at ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. Courses can be offered and learners can learn about health and well-being by actively involving in key activities given by the OERu course, some may be more practical than others that can require them to do researches on certain topics relating to health and well-being which gives them a first-hand view of this world problem.
Quality education is a core practice of educational resources with increasing access to significant institutional material and necessary improvements in the learning outcomes for students. With the access to OER or openness education, the quality education must allow student to have had access to materials that are not generally charged or getting any permission from someone. However, this can change the way how each and every individual usually understanding about education. Unfortunately, they must put in place some core instruction for every individual to make sure follow those instruction and improve in their learning.
As indicated by objective 4, guaranteeing comprehensive and fair quality training and advancing deep rooted learning valuable open doors for all. There is developing worldwide acknowledgment of Education for Sustainable Development as a fundamental component of value schooling and a key empowering agent for the maintainable turn of events. Around here of building supportable and quality schooling, one of the thoughts for a learning project that could be integrated into an OERu course is they would lay out an etymological trade of English for the other country’s language so the two students gain phonetic capability and more prominent social comprehension of each other on the grounds that having overabundance to innovation and thoughts from individuals from one side of the planet to the other is a basic element in instructive turn of events. Genuine critical thinking is more than showing models in a study hall. It’s tied in with getting away from course readings to interface the ideas to this present reality. Educators apply contemporary STEM information to direct understudies through examining and handling a current test or need. For instance, it very well may be planning a nursery for the school garden, working with industry, or planning an answer for a nearby chamber issue.

The promotion of lifelong learning opportunities, I think, is a personal responsibility. Frequently, free and open learning opportunities are shared through communication and the Marketing department. However, staff members don’t read these emails. Besides sharing information, there is not much any institution can do.
I’m not sure what strategies need to be employed to generate interest for individuals to participate in lifelong opportunities,s especially if they are free but at the same time upskilling us in the process.
Open educational resources (OERs) can change our lives forever. I believe it is about the mindset of an individual. In the learning design section, it took eighteen months to develop one study guide from the training of the writer to the final process of approval and payment. All OERs are quality assured before they are released online, therefore if there is an urgent need to have resources available immediately, the adaptation and adaptation of OERs can be used without the need for the remix.
With the introduction of OERs, It can take one month to have a complete guide. It would take searching for OERs online, looking at the learning outcomes of the course and then preparing a wrap around to serve as an additional resource for the students. The advantage would be the availability of quality assured resources at a faster rate where students have access to learning resources whenever required.
Open Education Resource-Enabled Pedagogy is the set of teaching and learning practices only practical in the context of the 5R permissions characteristic of open educational resources. Some people – but not all – use the terms “open pedagogy” or “open educational practices” synonymously. Open pedagogy, also known as open educational practices (OEP). Is the use of open educational resources (OER) to support learning, or the open sharing of teaching practices with a goal of improving education and training at the institutional, professional, and individual level. Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions. OER gives a wide variety of materials from which to build a class without having to start from scratch. OER is important because it provides affordable material to students, allows faculty to enhance their own work, and provides faculty with content for classes. OER can include textbooks, course materials and full courses, modules, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools, materials, or techniques used to support access to knowledge. An open source (or open) textbook is a textbook which is OER.
To attain the sustainable development goals, education is very important at this moment. As i have learnt that OER is free and you just have to get the permission to access it so it is fair enough for us to learn and get engage in the resources that will contribute towards us in acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills needed in life to solve the real world problems.I like OER blended course strategy which is a modify way to teaching and learning that enables you to learn at your own pace .
There are so many problems in this world that we live in. Climate change is one of the major problems that is affecting the world we are in right now. However, in order to prevent such problems people must think critically and they must be wise in how they do things to the environment which we live in. When we do not look after the environment the we will suffer from many things because the environment many of our basic needs and wants for our survival on earth. We must look after the environment because when we look after it, it will in turn look after us.
This is my suggestion for a learning project that could be incorporated into an OER course in regard to Quality Education. As noticed on most OER provided, there seem to be similarities in the resources provided since most of the materials online are from those in the developed countries with advanced technological perspectives. The same information is being used by all where in some cases it is not applicable in real life to those in the developing regions. When this happens the quality of education drops. Less information is being sourced from developing countries that have limited computer know-how. I propose that the OER information should be categorized under each region or country as a developing or a developed country. The resources should be specified for each country. In this way, it will suit the specific needs of the particular region and if applied in real life it will be beneficial. This is where the importance to ‘revise’, one of the 5 R’s come in handy. The OER needs to be adapted, modified, and improved to suit specific area needs so that it is beneficial in that respective concept. Otherwise, this is only the opinion I’m sharing.
With all the UNDP sustainable goals I would prefer sustainable goal # 4. This emphasizes the need of providing quality and affordable education for all people. From my viewpoint, I think education is fundamental to all development. In order to achieve other sustainable goals, education should be made free to all people, this will lead to improving the standard of life across the world. However, Papua New Guinea has a low literacy rate of 63%, which shows how education is needed in this country. Many who have access to education thus have a good future while those in the rural centers cannot afford quality education or the school fees are much higher which the many parents cannot afford. As a result, many young children have been left out of education. Thus, resulting in an increased crime rate and contributing to many social issues arising in the country. With the inception of Open Education Resources, I believe it can bring tangible changes to the lives of many young people in Papua New Guinea. This will lead towards achieving sustainable number 4 of the United Nations Development Program.
Real world problem like climate change, how should this problem will be solved . In Online Educational Resources there the vital resources are free and no-cost access. Yes the problem should be solved by relying on these vital information provided freely on the OER plate forms after having resentful discussions on the issue on climate change through the OER forums. Yes on the Online Educational Resources plate form the climatologists should provide the reliable information so that the plate form is no-cost access and the individuals who are participating can have that very reliable information to do every thing concerned form the climatologists. There on wards the individuals can influence the constrains to uphold the issue of climate change as the key agendas and the issue can be resolved altogether. Individuals as they copy the original cause of the climate change into their concise then they are likely to do protest and can bring down those in the high levels who are really acts as the constrains. This is the way through in the OER plate form that climatologists provide best information and individuals can act towards the reliable fact information and convince the elites to do everybody participate in the agenda of climate change. Then climate will change for better for all of us in the world. Therefore OER is the reliable plate form to have some issues discussed and solve it for the betterment of the world.
Solving Real World Problems: Child Poverty
How do effectively irradicate child poverty? I have chosen this issue as it is very common around the world today. There are five things needed to help stop child poverty. Firstly, children with access to high-quality education get the information and life skills they need to reach their greatest potential. It is also necessary to bring about change in a child’s life. Plan International assists by training teachers, constructing new schools, and removing barriers that prevent many children, particularly females, from attending and remaining in school (Plan number 4 of the UNDP, reflects on education being an agent of change) Secondly, access to healthcare is critical. Organize International assists communities in the construction of health clinics, the training of health care staff, and the purchase of equipment and drugs to ensure that children grow up healthy and strong. Thirdly, water and sanitation are also critical for the existence of every child. Annually, Plan International sponsors communities in the construction of school latrines and community water points, and even the formation of NGOs to assure the water points’ future operation and restoration. I believe, that when we work together, nothing is seen as an obstacle.
With respect to the Sustainable development goal, 4 quality education is important for people to attain a quality education. In Papua New Guinea many parents and guardians cannot afford school fees for their children and hence cannot send them to school. Many children in Papua New Guinea never finish their education past grade 12. Papua New Guinea has the highest illiteracy rate in Oceania and a low labor force to enforce the formal revenue of the country to generate tax income. With our education system filtering out students in grades 8, 10, and 12 with national examinations, not every child has the opportunity to further their studies. Papua New Guinea’s education system is also very poor. Open Education resources are what Papua New Guinea needs. Our government needs to take up these resources and create rollout programs for these unfortunate students to further their education. Open education resources are free and hence it is can be implemented in PNG where not everyone has a job. OERU lets many children access quality education. Therefore, open education resource is what Papua New Guinea needs so people can be educated by courses provided by universities all over the world that are free. This project entails the Sustainable Development Goal in providing quality education for all.
Education is a right and all individuals have to have access. However, some cannot fully understand the materials as they learn due to the lack of resources for further information to clearly understand. But this is a lot easier when one can use OER to make its own revision modify and retain information easily. Furthermore, OER provides free home education where you can study from abroad information at your home and make improvements in your local areas when employed. However, there are no restrictions on the people using OER to learn, in that case, trust is maintained by the learners themselves all because there is no teacher present physically to monitor the learner’s progress or attendance of the given task since there or no control. This simply means that sometimes students might not attend to the given tasks and might drop their academic performance in that case there should be some restriction to keep the learner going and achieve its goal. For instance, the penalty for not attending the given tasks for a month should be considered suspension for one year or the course and start fresh the next year. This might remind the learner of its purpose in learning.
