Educational issues that need to be regulated by policy in Eswatini is the lack of policies supporting technology enabled learning. Traditional methods of teaching are outdated and does not empower the learners, this has to be regulated by policy. A majority of public schools do not expose its learners to blended learning methods, it is only face to face teacher centered learning.
The government should make it a policy to fund education and the budget should be high.
Examples of educational issues: lack of pre-vocational courses available in our schools, the absence of technology in public schools to cater for learners who cannot benefit from conventional methods of learning.
- Curriculum Standards: Establishing guidelines for what subjects and content should be taught at each grade level
- Teacher Certification: Defining the qualifications and licencing requirements for educators
- Inclusive Education: Ensuring policies for accommodating students with disabilities or special needs
- School Safety: Implementing measures to address bullying, violence, and emergency protocols
- Assessment and Testing: Developing policies for standardised testing and student evaluation
inclusive education must stress out to assist the slow ones.
I believe that the following issues need to be regulated:
- Technology use in the classroom
- Requirements for professional development for teachers
- Upgrading of facilities for schools
- Grading and testing
Yes I agree with these. Definitely the inclusive education, I think this is an underserved area.
Educational issues that often require regulation by policy:
- Special Education Services
- School Funding and Resource Allocation
- Student Enrollment and Admissions
Enforcement of compulsory education is an issue in Fiji. The role of parents in ensuring that compulsory education is followed through is an issue that remains challenging. Children continue to drop out and parents let them. Most of these children, when the are still in the system, absenteeism was an issue. The neglect on parents part is evident, yet not much has been done about it. If there is a policy on this, it can help in controlling dropouts and also help parents to be a bit more responsible for their childrenâs education.
With a good behaviour management policy, discipline can improve but has to be done with the help of other institutions such as police, social welfare and so on.
With marginalised students with special needs, the inclusion of programs such as clubs can help. At the same time inclusion of extracurricular activities can help them if discovering what they can be good at.
There are numerous educational issues that require policy intervention to address challenges and improve the quality and equity of education systems. Some of these issues include:
- Access to Education: Policies are needed to ensure that all children, regardless of their socio-economic background, location, or abilities, have access to quality education.
- Equity and Inclusion: Education policies should promote equity and inclusion, addressing disparities in educational outcomes and providing opportunities for students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities and from marginalized groups.
- Teacher Quality: Policies related to teacher training, professional development, and recruitment are crucial for improving the quality of education. Teachers play a central role in the learning process.
- Curriculum Relevance: The curriculum should be updated and made more relevant to the needs of the 21st century, including digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Standardized Testing: Policies related to standardized testing should balance the need for assessment with the potential negative impact of overemphasis on testing.
- Early Childhood Education: Policies are essential to expanding access to high-quality early childhood education, as it has a significant impact on future learning outcomes.
- Digital Learning and Technology Integration: Educational technology policies need to address issues like access to digital tools, digital literacy, and the integration of technology into the curriculum.
- Adult and Lifelong Learning: Policies should support adult education and lifelong learning opportunities to address changing workforce needs and skill development.
- School Infrastructure: Policies are needed to ensure that schools have adequate infrastructure, including safe and well-maintained facilities, libraries, and technology resources.
- Inclusive Education: Policies should promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in mainstream schools and provide the necessary support and resources.
- Education Funding: Adequate and equitable funding is critical to the success of education systems. Education finance policies must ensure that resources are allocated fairly and transparently.
- Student Health and Well-being: Policies should address issues like student mental health, nutrition, and well-being, recognizing the link between health and educational outcomes.
- Teacher Retention: Policies can address factors that lead to teacher attrition, such as low salaries, lack of professional development, and challenging working conditions.
- Parent and Community Engagement: Encouraging policies for parental and community involvement in education can strengthen the support system for learners.
- Environmental Education and Sustainability: Policies can promote environmental education and sustainability practices to address environmental challenges and create informed citizens.
- Bullying and School Safety: Policies must address issues of bullying, harassment, and school safety to create a positive and secure learning environment.
Some of the Educational issues that need to be regulated by policy includes among others are Process of curriculum implementation, Process of Assessment, Integration of ICT in training, Special Needs Integration in TVETs and mode of training.
@Viliamem, this is quite elaborative and good.
- Assessment and evaluation of ODFL courses
- Quality assurance of the process
- Implementation
- Monitoring and Evaluation
This is really comprehensive and touches on most of the educational issues
I agree with all of the following by:
The following issues need to be regulated by policy:
-
Use of phones in school
-
Number of learners in a class
-
homework
-
use of technology in teaching
-
Alternative learning pathways
Some of of Educational issues that nef policy regulation are
1.Accessing quality education.Because of emphasis on accessity of education for all, quality of education has been overlooked.
2.Teacher/trainer.There has been very low retetion rate for qualified and competent trainers as they move on to find greener pastures.
3.Technology.Technology is rapidly changing and it requires that schools keep up with new technology to ensure students are prepared for a future where technology is a key part of their lives
4.Curriculum adaptation. The world is rapidly changing and the demands for specific skills are also changing.Curriculums must be updated with neccesary education for modern world
equity, access, availability, quality these are some of the things that can be looked at
- Competitive Teachers Salaries
While long-term commitments to teacher salary increases may put added pressure on school government finances, the failure to compensate teachers fairly threatens schoolsâ ability to ensure their students receive the quality education they need to serve their families and communities in the future.
- Making Students Ready for Tomorrowâs Workforce
A primary goal of educators at all levels is to provide students with the skills they need to thrive and succeed once they enter the workforce. However, a number of research indicate that 40 percent of employers struggle to find qualified candidates to fill their open positions. One approach to ensuring students learn the skills necessary to qualify for the in-demand jobs of the future is to encourage more collaboration between private companies and educators.
